Zohran Mamdani Pledges a 'New Era' for NYC in Inaugural Speech
On his first day in the mayor's office, Zohran Mamdani committed to “reimagine” the metropolis, promising “a different age” and an ambitious start to his term.
An Unprecedented Leader
The new democratic socialist, who just a year ago remained a virtually unknown state assemblyman, is the city's first Muslim mayor. He also made history by being the first to be take the oath of office using the Qur'an.
“A time such as this comes rarely and rarer still is it that the citizens whose hold the controls for transformation,” Mamdani remarked.
